The Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia (ICN2) is dedicated to advancing knowledge, materials, and devices across three domains: health, environment and ICT. It specializes in the nanoscale, continually uncovering new properties, interactions, and practical applications for everyday life.

Accredited as a Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence for 3 consecutive years
The institute was first recognised as a Centro de Excelencia Severo Ochoa in 2014 by the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades. This prestigious distinction was awarded again in 2018 and once more in 2023. ICN2 is supported by the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), where it is based. Additionally, ICN2 is a CERCA and ACER center and a founding member of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST).
