ElaadNL, together with EVnetNL, originated from the e-laad foundation, which from 2009 to early 2014 realised a network of around 3,000 public charging points for electric cars throughout the Netherlands. ElaadNL komt samen met EVnetNL voort uit de stichting e-laad, die van 2009 tot en met begin 2014 een netwerk van zo’n 3.000 publieke oplaadpunten voor elektrische auto’s gerealiseerd heeft in heel Nederland. ElaadNL is het kennis- en innovatiecentrum op het gebied van laadinfrastructuur in Nederland en verzorgt namens de betrokken netbeheerders de coördinatie van aansluitingen voor publieke laadpunten op het elektriciteitsnet. Het beheer van de bestaande laadpunten valt niet onder de taken van ElaadNL; dat wordt uitgevoerd door EVnetNL in afstemming met betreffende gemeenten.
