L'EID Méditerranée est un syndicat mixte associant les Départements des Pyrénées-Orientales, de l’Aude, de l’Hérault, du Gard, des Bouches-du-Rhône et la Région Occitanie. C’est un opérateur environnemental chargé d’étudier et de contrôler la nuisance causée par les moustiques issus des zones naturelles et qui peuvent se déplacer vers les zones habitées du littoral méditerranéen. L’EID-Med est habilitée par l’Etat (ARS) pour la lutte antivectorielle (objectif de santé publique) contre le « moustique-tigre » se développant dans les zones urbaines, principalement au sein des domiciles privés. Elle développe auprès du public, en lien avec les collectivités locales, des démarches de prévention destinées à éviter sa prolifération.
