An innovative patented solution to combat hypothermia
ThermoTrauma offers an innovative solution to combat hypothermia in the wounded: a patented Therm-Up® heated breastplate. Designed by Dr Thomas Spadoni (emergency physician) and Rémy Bergon (helicopter mechanic) in 2021 in Briançon. Franck Fauriel (ski patroller, sector manager) and Pierre Sévila (marketing) joined the adventure to develop this innovative device. ThermoTrauma is the result of their rescue experience. Combating hypothermia in accident victims is vital: if body temperature falls below 34°C, mortality is 30-50%. However, the resources currently used by rescue teams are inadequate. ThermoTrauma has developed a Therm-Up® heated chest protector that provides active warmth. More effective than a simple survival blanket, the breastplate is placed on the trunk and fits perfectly into the rescue sequence. Its batteries provide 4 to 6 hours' autonomy. The breastplate can be used by all first responders (Doctors, SAMU-SMUR, armed services, first-aiders, Red Cross...), in any terrain, in any weather.
After three years of research, development and field testing, the breastplates are now in production in France, near Lyon, and available for purchase. The breastplate won two awards in 2023: - Innovation Prize at the French Fire Brigade Congress - 1st Prize in the Innovation Competition at the SFMU Congress (French Society of Firefighters).

Un dispositif médical français breveté pour lutter contre l'hypothermie accidentelle.
ThermoTrauma propose une solution innovante pour lutter contre l’hypothermie des blessés : un plastron chauffant breveté Therm-Up®.
Imaginé par le Dr Thomas Spadoni (médecin urgentiste) et Rémy Bergon (mécanicien hélicoptère) en 2021 à Briançon. Franck Fauriel (pisteur-secouriste, responsable de secteur) et Pierre Sévila (marketing) ont rejoint l’aventure pour développer ce dispositif innovant. ThermoTrauma est issu de leur expérience de secours.
Lutter contre l’hypothermie des accidentés est vital : si la température corporelle descend en dessous de 34°C, la mortalité est de 30 à 50%.
Or les moyens actuels utilisés par les équipes de secours sont insuffisants.
ThermoTrauma a mis au point un plastron chauffant Therm-Up® qui apporte une chaleur active. Plus efficace qu’une simple couverture de survie, la pose du plastron placé sur le tronc s’intègre parfaitement dans la séquence de secours. Ses batteries assurent une autonomie de 4 à 6 heures.
Le plastron peut être utilisé par tous les primo-intervenants (Médecins, SAMU-SMUR, services des armées, secouristes, Croix Rouge...), sur tous les terrains, par tous les temps.
Après trois ans de recherche, de développement et de tests sur le terrain, les plastrons sont désormais en production en France, près de Lyon, et disponibles à l’achat.
Le plastron a obtenu deux prix en 2023:
- Prix de l'innovation au Congrès National des Sapeurs Pompiers de France
- 1er Prix du Concours de l'innovation au Congrès de la SFMU (Société Française de Médecine d'Urgence)
