The scientific objective of the unit is to develop Amonts and finalized research in the field of materials and procedural engineering. The unit works on three lines of research:
- the development, study and development of materials development and processing processes;
- the study and understanding of the evolution of structural characteristics and the properties of materials and their couplings;
- The integration of materials into systems, devices and processes.

Last week, LSPM-CNRS was at the workshop on metalurgy, organised by the RNM Réseau National de la Métallurgie: "La Métallurgie, quel avenir !" (Metallurgy, what a future!).
Laura Hérard presented her work on the modeling and experimental analysis of the evolution of the texture of FeSi steel during forming. Her works is co-funded by thyssenkrupp and LABEX SEAM, and co-supervised Brigitte Bacroix and Sohrab Masteri Farahani, and myself.
Mathieu Martin-Moyon discussed plasma-assisted oxidation to improve the mechanical strength of titanium. His PhD, co-supervised by Michaël Redolfi, Tony da silva botelho, Julien Fortes Da Cruz, Brigitte Bacroix, and Daniele Chaubet, is co-funded by Université Sorbonne Paris Nord and the Agence de l'innovation de défense.
Last, Axel Zuber presented a poster describing the preliminary works of his project on the sustainable synthesis of MAX phases. These results emerge from Souaad Assakali and Anna CHEN internships which were funded by Université Sorbonne Paris Nord, and co-supervised with Dominique Vrel.

Thanks to Jamaa Bouhattate and the organizing committee of the ASTM International Conference on Hydrogen in Materials for their wonderful welcome to La Rochelle last week.
Several members of the LSPM-CNRS (Université Sorbonne Paris Nord) were present:
- Jonathan Mougenot presented a theoretical and numerical finite element study on the coupling between trapping energy and trap occupancy rate. This work is being conducted as part of Sokay Chroeun's PdD, funded by the ANR (Agence nationale de la recherche) (FEMHILIM Project);
- Minh Duc Nguyen presented his PhD work on finite element modeling of the effects of hydrogen on the plasticity of pure iron single crystals. This work is funded by PEPR HYDROGENE (#hyperstock project) as part of #France2030, and is co-supervised by Leo Morin and Isabelle Aubert (I2M – Institut de Mécanique et d’Ingénierie de Bordeaux);
- Wisline BÉUCIA presented her PhD through a poster on hydrogen-plasticity interactions in titanium alloys;
- I myself presented a poster detailing a finite element comparison of disk pressure and small punch test results (in collaboration with Guillermo Álvarez Díaz);
- Nadjib ISKOUNEN presented the work carried out during his postdoctoral studies at Lasie, before joining the LSPM-CNRS.
This event allowed us to reconnect with all our friends from the friendly hydrogen/metal community, and to think of those who were unable to join us.

Exciting opportunity to join a France-Austria bilateral project on thin film metallic glasses, mechanical properties bridging simulations and experimental science!!! LSPM-CNRS
Salim Ben Ayed presented his work at the European Conference on Heat Treatment 2025 in Prague, focusing on finite element modeling of the carburizing-Quenching process.
Salim Ben Ayed developed user subroutines for the finite element code SIMULIA #Abaqus in order to simultaneously solve the coupled problems of carbon diffusion assisted by thermomechanical fields, heat transfer, and thermomechanics.
This work is being carried out jointly with LSPM-CNRS (Université Sorbonne Paris Nord) and GeePs - Laboratoire de Génie électrique et électronique de Paris (Laurent Daniel, CentraleSupélec).
