A global, 501(c)(3) effort against interstitial lung diseases between academia, industry & patient advocacy.

OSIC — a 501(c)(3), not‐for‐profit cooperative effort between academia, industry and patient advocacy groups — was created to enable rapid, open source advances in the detection and diagnosis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and other interstitial lung diseases (ILDs), through the use of digital imaging and machine learning. Radiologists, clinicians, computational scientists, and industry competitors from around the world work together to advance digital imaging biomarkers for accurate imaging‐based diagnosis, prognosis and prediction of response to therapy. The partners work in pre‐competitive areas for mutual benefit and, most importantly, the benefit of patients. All OSIC‐created algorithms are made open source for the benefit of patients everywhere.

The OSIC Data Repository is the world’s largest and most diverse ILD database. This heterogeneous, anonymized, global repository could be the start of finding digital imaging biomarkers to potentially speed up diagnosis, and aid in better understanding of individual prognosis and response to therapy.
