Created in 1989, recognized as a public utility in 2012, Handi’chiens's mission is to educate assistance dogs for supporting children and adults with disabilities and/or vulnerability.
The association educates and gives 7 assistance dog profiles for free:
- The assistance dog for people with motor or mental disabilities.
- The so -called "awakening" assistance dog, intended for children suffering from autistic spectrum disorders, trisomy, or polyhandicapped.
- The "social support" dog given to referents working in medico-social establishments

The education of a "handi'chiens" lasts 2 years.
The puppy is given for 16 months to a host family who will take care of its socialization. At the age of 18 months he was entrusted for 6 months to one of the 4 Handi’chiens education centers labeled by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture.
Each dog delivered for free represents a cost of € 17,500 for the association.

Créée en 1989, reconnue d’utilité publique en 2012, HANDI’CHIENS a pour mission d’éduquer des chiens d’assistance pour l’accompagnement d’enfants et d'adultes en situation de handicap et/ou de vulnérabilité.
L'association éduque et remet gratuitement 7 profils de chiens d'assistance :
- Le chien d'assistance pour les personnes en situation de handicap moteur ou mental.
- Le chien d’assistance dit « d’éveil », destiné à des enfants souffrants de troubles du spectre autistique, de trisomie, ou polyhandicapés.
- Le chien d' « d’accompagnement social » remis à des référents intervenant dans des établissements médico-sociaux
- Le chien d'assistance pour personnes épileptiques depuis 2018. Le chien va anticiper puis prévenir son nouveau compagnon de l'imminence de la crise grâce à l'odeur qu'il dégagera alors
- Le chien d'assistance judiciaire depuis mars 2019 qui intervient auprès de jeunes victimes lors de leur audition.
L’éducation d’un « Handi'Chiens» dure 2 ans.
Le chiot est remis pendant 16 mois à une famille d’accueil qui se chargera de sa socialisation. A l'âge de 18 mois il est confié pendant 6 mois à l’un des 4 Centres d’Education HANDI’CHIENS labellisés par le Ministère de la Santé et le Ministère de l’Agriculture.
Chaque chien remis GRATUITEMENT représente un coût de 17 500 € pour l’association.
Les chiens d’assistance ont été reconnus officiellement par la Loi du 11 février 2005, « comme une aide à la vie autonome et à l’intégration dans le milieu ordinaire ».
