BIOGRAPHY
Lab212 was founded in 2008, by a group of friends who all graduated in Interactive Design at the School of Visual Art les Gobelins in Paris. In 2015, they are Ambassadors representing the artistic field at the Assises de la Jeune Création, for the French Ministry of Culture and Communication.

STATEMENT
Using new media, the collective creates installations which explore our perceptions of space and sound. These pieces, in which the visitor becomes an actor, provoke a loss of bearings and offer a sensitive interpretation of impalpable phenomena by giving them a materiality, as through light and sound beams in space (Passifolia, 2020), the force of the wind on the landscape (Nebula, 2018), or the weight of the body in atmosphere (Starfield, 2012).
EXHIBITIONS
Their works were exhibited at the Barbican Centre (London, GBR), the V&A Museum (London, GBR), the Miraikan Museum (Tokyo, JPN), the Museum of Digital Art (Zurich, CHE), the DMuseum (Seoul, KOR), le Centre Pompidou (Paris, FRA), la Gaîté Lyrique (Paris, FRA).
AWARDS
Lab212 has won several international awards, including from the Sundance Film Festival (New Frontier Selection: Notes on Blindness), Ars Electronica (Interactive Art Honorary Mention: LightType), the Lumen Prize (Performance Award: Portée/).

DÉMARCHE
A travers les nouveaux médias, le collectif réalise des installations qui explorent nos perceptions de l’espace et du son. Ces dispositifs au sein desquels le visiteur devient acteur, provoquent une perte de repères et proposent une interprétation sensible de phénomènes impalpables en leur conférant une matérialité, comme à travers des faisceaux lumineux et sonores dans l’espace (Passifolia, 2020), la force du vent sur le paysage (Nebula, 2018), ou l’apesanteur du corps dans l'atmosphère (Starfield, 2012).
